Graham Huntley | About the Musician
- Since the age of 7, Graham Huntley has been in love with music. Ever since his first piano lesson, he knew that music will be in his future. From there he went on to learn how to play guitar at 12 and has not looked back.
Now at the age of 28, Graham enjoys playing for friends and family at any opportunity and has recently taken up teaching piano and guitar. He says that teaching the younger generation who have a similar passion to his is something he enjoys and hopes to pass on some wisdom to them.
As well as performing and teaching, Graham has started to look into making some music of his own and feels that it is something he can become successful in. “I just want to be a jack of all trades when it comes to music. Teaching, performing and making my own music, I’m developing all the time, and interacting with people, which I love.”
Graham’s passion came from his grandfather, who also learnt piano at an early age and he remembers just sitting and listening to him play for hours.
When it comes to teaching, Graham Huntley finds great satisfaction in passing on what he learnt years ago and feels that what he knows will be of great value to anyone who wants to know. “I only teach people who actually wants to learn, and not just people who are forced into learning to play piano or guitar....That’s my number one rule. Teaching someone who actually wants to develop and learn makes a much better student.”
Graham does play occasionally around town at local bars, open mic nights as well as birthday parties, and the occasional wedding or two with a few of his friends who are in a band.
Hopefully one day, he likes to think that someone will notice him and then he will start recording, which he thinks is not such a farfetched dream as he always mentions how James Morrison was discovered playing in his garden. “Hey, if it can happen to someone simply playing in his garden, then it could happen to someone like me playing in a small town. But for now, I am just going to enjoy what I do and keep dreaming.”
